Liverpool 2 Stoke City 0 match highlights 2/2/11
Liverpool have a hectic day shopping on January's transfer deadline day, the day where clubs had to buy players by, if they want them to feature in the rest of the campaign. Torres fled the Anfield Nest, departing south for Chelsea in a staggering 50 million pound deal, whilst Andy Carroll was recruited from Newcastle alongside Ajax's Luis Suarez. It's clear that Kenny Dalglish has big plans set out for the team and certainly needed a big jolt in their attacking prowess which they now surely have with two acclaimed forwards. However, Suarez will be getting the baptism tonight ahead of Carrol, who is injured and the Kop faithful will get their first glimpse of what the Uruguayan has to offer.
Stoke are currently wavering away from home this season and have only managed three wins all season on the road so Wednesday night will surely be a stern test for the potters. If they can manage a win however, it will lift them over the merseysiders into 7th place so a lot of motivation for the midlanders to pull out all the stops at Anfield. The reverse fixture this season saw Stoke sweep aside Liverpool with ease 2-0 but Stoke know it will not be a task as easy as Liverpool look to have turned a corner under their legendary manager with 2 wins in their last 2 games. The match takes place at Anfield and kicks off at 8pm.
