watch spain vs lithuania live
World Champions Spain will have to go into tonight's tie with Lithuania without star men Xavi, Fernando Torres, Cesc Fabregas and Jesus Navas so it gives the manager a selection issue to decide but also the chance to field names he wouldn't otherwise be in the position to do. The Spanish team may be carrying a knock to morale after their comprehensive defeat at the hands of Argentina last month and Vicente Del Bosque will want the world cup and euro championship holders to make sure his side are still firing on all cylinders to show they are worthy owners of the titles with a victory over eastern european side Lithuania. However the wily side don't seem to be a pushover in light of recent performances and Spain will have to watch that their crown doesn't produce shades of complacency.
Borja Valero and Aritz Aduriz have been called up to the team for the first time and it is believed that Fernando Llorente will support David Villa up front as Torres can't feature. Also Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez is in sparkling form and is the catalyst behind Valencia sitting pretty at the top of the Primera Liga the the moment. "This is the single most important moment in my career. To be in Spain's National Football Team is incredible. I feel happy, when I was 10 years old and started in Real Madrid, Del Bosque was the youth team's manager. He knows me well enough and if he called me, this means he belives I'm ready" stated Borja Valero.
Spain started handsomely in qualifying with a resounding 4-0 win over minnows Liechtenstein but Lithuania will be a far more tricky opponent as proven by their win over the more fancied Czech team in their earlier qualifying match. However the East Europeans have had their strength crippled with injuries to Giedrius Arlauskis, Andrius Velicka and Mantas Fridrikas and the Lithuania boss will have a sweat on when he considers the damage the Spaniards could do to him if his understudies to these players don't rise to the occasion.
