Wales 0 England 2 highlights 26/3/11

England eased past Wales comfortably with 2 goals in the first 15 minutes which proved too much for the welsh. Lampard scored a resulting penalty after Ashley Young was brought down and then shortly afterwards Darren Bent scored the second.

All the talk of late in the England camp has been of the furore created upon Fabio Capello reinstating John Terry as skipper of the England team going into this qualifier and a win for the three lions would see them sitting pretty at the top of group G. Terry has stressed that that is what the team need to look towards and knows if they don't come away from Cardiff with a victory then the blame will be thrown at his doorstep. The main reason why Terry has been honoured with the captain duties is because of Rio Ferdinand's ongoing injury issues and with the Manchester United player missing again it's expected that Michael Dawson will partner Terry at the back, just like they did in the February victory over Denmark.

Saturday also sees Wales first competitive match under the guise of new boss Gary Speed, who succeeds former manager John Toshack in December, after overseeing a 3-0 nations cup defeat to Ireland in his first match in charge. The live match stream takes place from cardiff's Millenium stadium and the match kicks off at 3pm.

Celtic 1 Rangers 2 highlights 20/3/11

The CIS insurance cup final went to extra time after finishing 1-1 after 90 minutes with goals from Steven Davis and Joe Ledley. Rangers went on to score in extra time with a goal from Nikica Jelavic to lift the trophy.

Celtic assistant coach Johan Mjallby has went on record to state that it is "ridiculous" to entertain the possibility of the hoops getting a possible treble. Celtic are currently topping the premier league and are odds on to win the Scottish Cup after a midweek victory at Inverness which booked them a place in the semi finals. They are also buyoed up by the fact that in the 4 old firm games they have played thus far this season they have avoided defeat in each one.

Asked if the treble was being discussed, Johan Mjallby replied: "No. It is too early to think about that. It would be ridiculous to think about a treble right now. The good thing is we have a chance to go all the way in every domestic competition but it is too early to speak about that just now. The main focus is on the next game. Rangers are going to be fired up, it is a cup final."

Chelsea 2 Manchester City 0 highlights 20/3/11

Chelsea 2 Manchester City 0 highlights 20/3/11

At the start of the season many people would be penning tomorrow's clash between heavyweights from London and Manchester as being a pivotal point to where the title could be heading in May. Both are big spenders with millionaires behind their ranks with the ability to buy most players that they desire and both had many hopes for the new season. However with Chelsea's stumbling around the October period and not being able to regain consistency with form for another couple of months and City, whilst chalking up many good results also showing the same inconsistency, both of the teams find themselves largely fighting just to consolidate their champions league places for next season.

However with a couple of wins for both teams and both will find themselves in a healthier position and can spark a charge for the premiership crown providing Manchester United and Arsenal can slip up a couple of times in their remaining games. Chelsea are buoyed by success and progress in the champions league and the spectre of the task for City to get all 3 points from Stamford Bridge is a big one.

Watch Liverpool vs Sunderland live stream 13/8/2011

Pressure will be on liverpool to begin on a winning note in front of the anfield faithful as they open the season against Sunderland. Kenny Dalglish has increased the belief in the team and the supporters and the clubs greatest player has become a saviour figure for the Merseyside club who were wallowing down by the relegation places last christmas with no hope of a decent finish to the season. Sunderland will want to build on the mid table mediocrity they achieved last year and certainly try and finish above bitter neighbours Newcastle in the table.

The live match takes place at Anfield Road Stadium on Saturday August 13th and kicks off at 3:00pm. To watch a live stream of the match click below:

West Brom 2 Arsenal 2 highlights 19/3/11

West Brom 2 Arsenal 2 highlights 19/3/11

Roy Hodgson is seemingly taking far more enjoyment from trying to keep West Brom afloat in the premiership than at any time in his tenure with giants Liverpool where he tried to stamp his mark in vain. Currently the baggies are hovering precariously above the drop zone by a single point before heading into todays clash with high fliers Arsenal however Hodgson has enjoyed a promising start to his reign at the hawthorns and has chalked up a win and 3 draws out of his first 4 games which will boost morale for the midlanders as the relegation dogfight looms on the horizon.

He will certainly have his work cut out for him if he is to make it 5 games unbeaten as they face title chasing Arsenal on Saturday. "I suppose the truthful answer would be yes, I'm enjoying it more now (than he did at Anfield) because no-one likes to be in a situation where the work you're doing is not appreciated,'' said Hodgson. The live match stream takes place at the Hawthorns stadium and the match kicks off at 3pm.

Manchester United 1 Bolton 0 highlights 19/3/11

Manchester United 1 Bolton 0 highlights 19/3/11

Manchester United squeezed past Bolton with a goal from Dimitar Berbatov in the 88th minute. Jonny Evans was earlier dismissed with a straight red card for a two footed tackle on Bolton's Stuart Holden which has ruled the player out for six months with injury. Jonny Evans has to face a three match ban for violent conduct.

Manchester United's Javier Hernandez has been pushed into having to spend time at the gym in order to come to terms with the physical trying of games in the premier league. His displays in his first season have been dazzling, netting a load of goals and impressing on many occasions. He was an unknown entity until he impressed for his country at last summer's world cup and managed to net on his first full debut for United in the community shield win over Chelsea and he hasn't looked back since. His goals in the win over Marseille on Tuesday night made it 16 goals for him this term and whilst he is pleased with his contributions he knows he has more work to do in order to deal with the challenges that meet him in future.

"I have done better than I thought I would,'' said the 24-year-old. "But I wouldn't say it has been easier. Nothing in life is easy. Physically I have got a lot stronger. I go to the gym a lot. It is not because I like it. It is something I needed to do because the English league is quicker and more physical. It has helped my confidence a lot to score so many goals but the most important thing for me has always been the results of the team. Goals are merely a consequence of the work everyone does.

Real Madrid 3 Lyon 0 highlights 16/3/11

Real Madrid 3 Lyon 0 highlights 16/3/11

Jose Mourinho is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding the fitness of Real Madrid midfielder Ronaldo ahead of their key last 16 clash with Lyon where the Spaniards are looking to overcome the French team Lyon. The player damaged his hamstring in the 7-0 mauling of Malaga on March 3rd and the club declared that he will be out for up to 2 weeks following the injury. Mourinho has decide whether to take the gamble on the portugese player and with the tie poised at 1-1 and Madrid having a key awa goal they will feel confident going into the match at the Bernabeau.

Mourinho speaking of Ronaldo to marca.com said: "I don't know whether he is going to play or not. We'll wait until the final training session to decide. I'm not a doctor and I'm not the player so I will leave it to the medical department to decide. I do not like to decide anything on game day - I like to be clear a day earlier. I have nothing to hide. If he is well, he will play. But you will have to wait a little."

Manchester United 2 Marseille 1 highlights 15/3/11

Manchester United 2 Marseille 1 highlights 15/3/11

With all the baggage that comes with being successful on 3 different fronts that United are still gunning in with them topping the league, being in the FA cup semis and taking on Marseille on Tuesday, they still have managed to keep the side pretty free of injuries and they were able to get a result against the Gunners on Saturday with pretty much a second string of players. They weren't tested that much by Arsenal and names such as Giggs, Scholes and Berbatov didn't have to play a big part in proceedings and were largely fresh for the return fixture with Marseille on Tuesday.

Although United were pretty moderate in the first leg they will still be favourites to overcome the French team and it would be a major shock if they couldn't make it past them. Confidence could be gained from the fact that no French team has ever won at Old Trafford in 12 attempts and they've only conceded one goal in those matches. The live match takes place at Old Trafford and kicks off at 7:45pm.

Bayern Munich 2 Inter Milan 3 highlights 15/3/11

Bayern Munich 2 Inter Milan 3 highlights 15/3/11

Bayern Munich manager Louis Van Gaal has stressed that not even winning the champions league this season would reverse his decision to leave the german club at the end of this season. Bayern declared the news last Monday that he would be leaving by mutual consent this Summer after having a disappointing Bundesliga season with the German outfit. The position they are in the league and out of the domestic cups means the European cup is their only realistic possibility of silverware this season and the Dutchman says winning it would not change his mind on his decision to leave.

"It would change nothing,'' he said ahead of the second leg of Bayern's last-16 tie against Inter Milan. "We have decided to split because we have a different philosophy. We don't want to go through it all again. If we win the Champions League then I have done my job well,'' Van Gaal added. "Then the fans are happy, the club is happy and Bayern can move on with their next coach.'' He said: "I think Bayern is a super club, possibly the best organisation in the world. It is the kind of environment where a coach wants to work.''

Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0 highlights 9/3/11

Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0 highlights 9/3/11

It was way back in the 80's that the term "glory, glory nights" was first proclaimed by people on Tottenham's adventures in europe and if the North London club manage to squeeze past Milan tonight into the quarter finals then it will be one of the club's greatest achievements. There were many people who were skeptical about Tottenham being able to land a spot in the champions league this season but Redknapp managed to steer them into the top four of the premier league and this season has seen the club cement their lofty status by currently sitting in the top 5 of the premier league alongside a glorious run in the champions league which saw them beat out the holders Inter in the group stage and then record a stunning 1-0 victory at their city rivals San Siro 3 weeks ago.

If Spurs manage to avoid defeat tonight in London then they will find themselves in the last 8 of the competition. The odds look pretty good in their favour as they have won all four matches they have played at home in the competition this season and Milan will have to do without the services of fiery midfielder Rene Gattuso after his spat with Spurs assistant coach Joe Jordan. The live match takes place at white hart lane and kicks off at 7:45pm.

Barcelona 3 Arsenal 1 highlights 8/3/11

Barcelona 3 Arsenal 1 highlights 8/3/11

Prior to tonights Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola was asked whether he thought Arsenal were mentally suspect taking into account their recent lack of success in the last few years and not having won a trophy since 2005. He responded by insisting they are not mentally weak and that he admires the London side's consistency at the highest level. The gunners still remain in contention for 3 trophies, the champions league, and having to tussle it out with Manchester United in games in the FA cup and league to decided which of the two is to be in with a shot of winning the trophies.

"I keep hearing about the fragility in the minds of the Arsenal players, but I do not agree," Guardiola said. "They are competing with Manchester United for the Premier League, reached the final of the Carling Cup and a few seasons ago were in the final of the Champions League. "Arsenal are always in the top, when you compete every season at the top, it is because they are quality. Sometimes they sell players, but Arsenal always keep the same level. Many teams arrive at the top for one year, but then are finished. Arsenal are there every season. For many years they have kept up there, and that is the real merit. Yes, they lack something, but they are a young team. When they win the first time, they will change the mentality, they will realise they are good."

Blackpool 1 Chelsea 3 highlights 7/3/11

Blackpool 1 Chelsea 3 highlights 7/3/11

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is stressing that he is still enjoying his first season of management in the premier league despite it making him look "haggard and jaded". The Tangerines who were dismissed by many as finishing the campaign rooted to the bottom started the season in an impressive fashion and at the turn of the year found themselves comfortably treading water in mid-table. However their form since the new year has been shaky and although they managed to achieve wins against Liverpool and high flying Tottenham, they are their only wins in 11 games in the league.

They now find themselves in a precarious position, hovering over the drop zone but with 10 games remaining have enough confidence to believe they will beat the drop and solidify their position in the league. They face the champions at Bloomfield road tonight and in the reverse fixture in September the blues stomped all over the Lancastrians with a 4-0 win. However with Blackpool managing to get results over top teams this term and managing to be beating manchester united 2-0 with a third of the match to play when they faced each other(United went on to win 4-2!) they will not be an easy touch when Chelsea travel to Lancashire today. The live match kicks off at 8pm.

Celtic 1 Rangers 0 highlights 2/3/11

Celtic marksman Scott Hooper, is hoping for a three in a row when he faces the gers tonight in the replay of the Scottish cup tie. The ex scunthorpe player netted in the 3-1 victory over the auld enemy when they last met last month and then scored 2 in a 3-0 home victory last week. The striker is eager to net more in the fixture and tonight and believes that getting past Rangers and getting through to the next round where they will meet Inverness will help the hoops recover after their disappointing loss at Motherwell at the weekend which irked their premier league aspirations.

"You've got to aim to score in every game," Hooper said. "But the main thing is getting the result and picking up the performance from the other day at Motherwell. It was a bad day at the office, a bad performance and nothing went for us but there are no excuses. It's gone now and we have an important game on Wednesday. You can't win every game. The live match takes place at Celtic Park and kicks off at 7:45pm.
