After a thrilling night for the gunners last night who being 4 goals down were able to pull it back and eventually trounce Reading 7-5, you wouldn't think there would be another night of high drama but they delivered at Stamford Bridge.

United took the lead after a mistake by Cech early on which Giggs dispatched. Luiz levelled with a penalty on the half hour mark and then Hernandez put United in front 2-1 as they went into the break. As the second half started the blues quickly levelled things with a corner and a headed goal from Cahill who headed the ball in the far corner. Rafael tried his best to keep it from crossing the line but video replays showed it was a yard behind the line before he headed it out.

United shrugged off this setback and conjured up a beautiful 3rd goal which was elegantly dispatched by Nani. United looked competent and looked like they were cruising into the quarter finals as Chelsea were kept at bay until the final few seconds when youngster Wootton fouled Ramires in the box to concede a penalty which Eden Hazard dispatched to take the game into extra time.

Wootton again slipped up soon after extra time began by giving a poor header back to keeper Lindegaard which Sturridge rounded Lindegaard and made it 5-4 to the blues. Ramires then shortly afterwards, capitalised on the counter attack as United were pressing for an equaliser, and rounded Lindegaard for Chelsea's sixth and in the last minute Hernandez earned a penalty which Giggs dispatched to give United a shred of hope.

They couldn't do anything with it and the game finished 5-4. Wow.
